Waiting for the Barbarians (2019)

A judge living in the frontier of an empire awaits the day he will retire. However, his life takes a completely different turn when Colonel Joll comes to the area and asks him to report on the activities of the barbarians living in the area. The man who begins the investigation witnesses the imperial soldiers torturing and killing the barbarians. What they see causes the judge to begin to question his loyalty to the empire.
